Allana, raised in London, boasts a comprehensive professional background. During her time in Dubai, which spanned two and a half years, she developed her skills as a recruiter, accumulating valuable expertise in the field. Expanding her proficiency, she assumed the responsibility of overseeing multiple international campus teams and internal roles.
In 2018, Allana earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Leicester, wanting to further expand her qualifications Allana achieved a certification in Mental Health First Aid. Presently, Allana works closely with Ian Preddy, VHR&rsquo;s Director of Operations, to execute a comprehensive recruitment and onboarding strategy aimed at securing top-tier talent for our organisation. Additionally, she actively engages with every department and individual, ensuring everyone is following the HR standards across all aspects of VHR's operations.

Andreea, a native of Romania, relocated to the United Kingdom in 2015 to pursue her studies in literature. Her dedication to dynamic and challenging work environments led her to secure a position at the fashion retailer, Guess. Throughout her time at Guess, Andreea worked her way up within the business, ultimately attaining a role in which she oversaw a team of 20. Focusing on her leadership and project management skills, Andreea transitioned seamlessly into the realm of recruitment, specialising in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) region.
Upon joining VHR, Andreea demonstrated her remarkable initiative, quickly becoming an invaluable member of the team. Working under the supervision of Rebecca Fagan and Iulia Mihalache within the Delivery Team, Andreea not only earned a well-deserved promotion but also established herself as an integral part of the recruitment division.

Prior to moving to London, Debora had studied and&nbsp;&nbsp;achieved a master's degree in accounting and information technology in 2005 in Romania.
After moving to the UK, Debora embarked on her career in the retail sector, working her way through the organisation to become Assistant Manager, a position she held for a period of four years. Drawing upon the valuable skills she learnt in her previous roles, Debora subsequently embarked on a different path, transitioning into the field of recruitment. She now serves as an integral member of the Business Development Recruitment Team, operating under the management of Michael Alderman. Within this role, Debora operates in close collaboration with candidates, meticulously matching them with roles that align with their skills and aspirations. Her commitment extends beyond the placement process, as she remains dedicated to ensuring her candidates have settled into both their accommodations and roles and are working to the clients targets.

Luminita started at VHR in April, assuming the role of Credit and Cost Control Executive. Having undertaken a relocation from Romania to the United Kingdom, Luminita garnered extensive experience in the recruitment sector, serving both local and international enterprises over a six-year period. Her decision to join VHR was driven by a desire to further harness her expertise in this field.
Within her capacity, Luminita collaborates closely with VHR's Chief Operating Officer, Paul Robinson, to diligently oversee the timely and proper receipt of payments from clients, employing meticulous methods and channels to ensure financial transactions are executed smoothly and efficiently.

Sasha, who commenced employment in May, has undergone a relocation from Ukraine to join the VHR team. During his time in Ukraine, Sasha focused on his sales expertise through a decade of dedicated service in his prior role. Leveraging the skill set acquired from his previous position, Sasha now serves as VHR's Finance and Operations Assistant. In this role, he oversees critical functions encompassing office operations, internal software security measures, and financial administrative responsibilities. Sasha reports directly to Angela Nikolenko, our Financial Controller at VHR.

Bianca was welcomed to the role of Account Support Manager in June, bringing her valuable expertise to our team. Prior to joining VHR, Bianca had a successful career as a contract consultant in the data analytics recruitment sector. Her extensive experience in this field eventually led her to become an integral part of VHR's red team, where she serves as an Account Support Manager under the guidance of Divisional Director of Engineering and Technical, Conor McKeon. In her role, Bianca focuses on recruiting professionals in the Aviation and Automotive industries to meet the increasing staffing requirements of our valued clients.

In August, Mohamed became a valued member of the VHR team, bringing with him a rich background in management.
Mohamed holds a bachelor's degree in biomedical maintenance from Mohammed V University in Morocco, complemented by a master's degree in business with Entrepreneurship from Northumbria University. His academic achievements demonstrate his commitment to professional growth and excellence.
Within the VHR organisation, Mohamed has assumed the role of Finance Assistant, where he will play a crucial role in facilitating both internal and external financial transactions. In this capacity, he will report directly to Manju George, VHR's Finance Manager, contributing to the efficient operation of our finance department.

Matthew has become the newest addition to our London office. Possessing an extensive background of 8 years in coordinating and supporting recruitment models, Matthew made a pivotal shift in his career towards technology projects in 2022.
His induction into VHR is aimed at assuming a critical role in overseeing ongoing technology projects and facilitating the seamless transition to new technological initiatives in the upcoming months. Matthew will report directly to Ian Preddy, VHR's Director of Operations.

Hina, originally hailing from Karachi, Pakistan, has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to her career development as an Immigration Consultant. Commencing her career as an Immigration Consultant in 2008, Hina has since accrued an impressive 15-year track record, predominantly specializing in the field of Human Resource Management.&nbsp;
VHR proudly welcomes Hina as our On-Site Coordinator, based in the UAE. In her capacity as On-Site Coordinator, Hina serves as the primary liaison between our client and our contracted workforce, effectively functioning as an extension of our Human Resources department. Her role is pivotal in ensuring seamless coordination and communication, directly reporting to Jenna Beard, VHR's Director in the Middle East.

<h3>Leen Abu Hamra &ndash; Finance Assistant</h3>

After the successful completion of her Accounting degree, Leen embarked on her career at Abu Dhabi University, where she assumed the role of a research assistant specializing in data analysis, data editing, and data filtering. This experience endowed her with invaluable skills, ultimately paving the way for her appointment as an Accountant at a prestigious aviation firm.
In May 2023, Leen joined VHR as a Finance Assistant, becoming an integral part of the internal Finance team under the leadership of Manju George. In her capacity at VHR, Leen assumes responsibility for managing payments and financial matters on behalf of one of VHR's prominent clients.

<h2>The Future for VHR</h2>
VHR have big plans and as we embark on an ambitious growth journey as we plan to fully incorporate in the Philippines and Saudi Arabia with offices in both countries. Our strategic vision involves a significant increase in our workforce, with plans to grow from our current 50 staff members to a robust team of 75 in the next few years.
To achieve this, we are actively working on strengthening our capabilities by expanding our specialised automotive-focused recruitment team. Additionally, our commitment to growth extends to our Manchester office, where we are in the process of recruiting talented and dedicated recruitment consultants to drive our operations.
Furthermore, we are actively seeking senior finance staff members to join our dynamic team. With these initiatives, we are poised for a future of expanded reach, enhanced services, and sustained success.

VHR's Quarterly Growth – Meet our new Team Members!

On the 26th of&nbsp;July 2023 VHR took on the challenge to raise money for Bede House, a local charity to our London office.&nbsp;
&nbsp;2 bikes, 20 hours, 1 team.&nbsp;
<h2>Who took part?&nbsp;</h2>
30 people in the VHR London Office and one employee all the way from our UAE office took part in this momentous charity event for VHR. The push for everyone to take part in this activity was supported highly by VHR&rsquo;s CEO Danny Brooks, who said&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;The event is meant to be fun but challenging. We are supporting a local charity &ndash; BEDE that supports people who are a lot less fortunate than ourselves&rdquo;.&nbsp;&nbsp;
VHR are renowned for taking part in charity events over the years, the latest being the London Marathon where our Management Accountant Alexander Giles took part and finished with an outstanding time of 3 hours, 40 minutes, and 40 seconds. In previous years, our CEO Danny Brooks and Ryan Abbot our Divisional Director also took part. VHR have also previously taken part in Macmillan Coffee Mornings, The Captains Ride, Loud Shirt Day&rsquo;s, Movember, The Santa Run, Edinburgh Marathon and Christmas Jumper Day all in aid of different charities around the world. Raising over &pound;25,000 for charity in the past four years, VHR was ready to take on our next big challenge.&nbsp;&nbsp;
<h2>Why have we chosen this activity?&nbsp;</h2>
To celebrate VHR turning 20 this year, VHR wanted to choose an activity that would drive our team, with some people taking it slow and others pushing themselves to their limits, we wanted to find an activity that was fit for everyone. The charity we are cycling for, BEDE House, supports a wide variety of people; People with learning difficulties, Youth, People who have suffered domestic abuse and the local community. Danny shared the main reason we are doing this is that &ldquo;all these people have lives a lot more challenging than sitting on a bike for an hour or so and raising a bit of money for charity. A little bit of effort on our side will make a world of difference to the people that BEDE helps&rdquo;.&nbsp;
<h2>Who are we helping?&nbsp;</h2>
VHR chose to support BEDE House for this charity event due to the fact that we are celebrating our 20th&nbsp;birthday and 20 years in the Bermondsey area, we wanted to give back to those who help our local community. Throughout the 20 years of VHR, we have strived to help those around us through a variety of schemes and charity days. BEDE House are a charity based in Bermondsey, London, who focus primarily on providing comprehensive support to address various challenges. With a legacy dating back to 1938, they have dedicated their time to empowering both the youth and elderly, enabling them to lead enriching and fulfilling lives. To achieve this, we have meticulously designed four distinct programs, each tailored to cater to specific needs within the community&nbsp;
<h2>How did it go?&nbsp;</h2>
The overall day was a great success for all those who took part in the office and for the charity. So far, as of the 28th of&nbsp;July, VHR have raised &pound;1,450 out of our &pound;1,500 target. Starting at 6am, the team consecutively pedalled on rotation for 20 hours, swapping out either every 30 minutes, hour or for one individual an hour and a half. The floods of donations kept the team motivated and driven to succeed to the end of the 20 hours, even when there were only 3 people left in the office on the graveyard shift, Danny stated &ldquo;I wanted to be there at both the start and the end to see this through, I am a big advocate of raising money for charity, exercise and motivating those around me to push through and complete the challenge&rdquo;.&nbsp;&nbsp;
VHR always strives to do the most in each activity they do, and this charity event was no different, we are extremely proud of how well the team rallied together to complete the 20 hours and achieving an astonishing 855.02 miles overall. The fastest time was cycled 15 miles in 30 minutes, which is a brilliant effort by a VHR team member.

The award also reflects those who have gone above and beyond to provide contractors working with them with comprehensive and current information regarding their tax affairs and requirements, thereby adding an extra level of value to these professional connections.&nbsp;
The &rsquo;Best International Recruitment Agency&rsquo; Award pushes for recognition towards recruitment companies who are recognised for delivering exceptional service by offering recruitment solutions in a minimum of two countries outside the UK and Ireland.&nbsp;To qualify for this award, a substantial portion of the business operations must be derived from this activity, with at least 25% of revenue or a minimum of 20 staff dedicated to supporting these endeavours.&nbsp;
The &lsquo;Best Temporary Recruitment Agency&rsquo; Award showcases the exceptional proficiency in delivering a first-class service through recruitment solutions within the temporary sector. VHR were eligible as a substantial part of our companies&rsquo; operations are devoted to this sector.&nbsp;
Lastly, we were shortlisted for the &lsquo;Recruitment Agency of the Year &ndash; Small&rsquo;. This award is bestowed to the agency that attains the most remarkable business achievement or a series of accomplishments within the year.&nbsp;&nbsp;

From a small island in the Caribbean, Montserrat, to now living in the UK, Calvin is 22 years old and lives in Essex, UK. Calvin successfully completed a Traineeship course covering all aspects of recruitment and training. Having worked for a number of years within the recruitment sector, Calvin discovered his passion for Formula One. Calvin joined VHR as an Account Support Manager which has allowed him to learn more about the industry and get involved with placing candidates into the world of F1. Calvin will report to Conor McKeon, our Divisional Director for Engineering and Technical, by&nbsp;supporting candidates, organising background logistics, and helping candidates get settled into their new roles.

Denise is 24 years old and originates from Tuscany, Italy. In order to obtain her master's degree within Policies and Governance, Denise relocated to London in 2021 where she studied at King's College London. Denise joined VHR as our Personal Assistant and Office Manager, with an extensive knowledge of languages, being fluent in Italian, English, French and German along with basic skills in Russian. Denise works closely with both our Chief Executive Officer, Danny Brooks and Chief Operating Officer, Paul Robinson, helping the office run smoothly.&nbsp;

Danushka is from Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka. With over 15 years of experience within the aviation industry, Danushka has been able to broaden her knowledge within her field extensively. In her role, Danushka has been able to travel the world and have the pleasure of meeting and working with more than 80 nationalities. Danushka works as our Technical Operations Coordinator and reports to Jenna Beard, VHR's Director in the Middle East. Her ability to speak multiple languages including English, Sinhalese and a small amount of Hindi allows her to converse with a wide range of candidates and clients throughout the company.

Annette was formerly from London and then Scotland where she resided for 9 years before making the move to fulfil her role as Account Manager in the UAE. Annette has worked within the technical industry for 15 years and brought with her an extensive amount of knowledge surrounding construction and finance. Her in-depth experience enables her to bring a deeper understanding to her role as an Account Manager and to her team. Reporting to Jenna Beard, Annette is able to assist with the recruitment and placement of individuals in and around the UAE and Middle East.&nbsp;

Shakeeb, who is VHR's newest hire, was born in Lahore. Lahore is the second most populous city in Pakistan. Shakeeb has previous experience within large scale companies such as Nestle Pakistan Limited and Etihad Airways PJSC. Shakeeb joined VHR as our Senior Account based in the UAE and is a qualified member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Shakeeb has joined Jenna Beard's team and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in the finance and accounting industry.

<h2>What It's Like To Work At VHR</h2>
VHRs head office is situated in Central London, on the River Thames. London being the smallest city in England, it is home to over 8 million people from around the globe. VHR much like London, has a diverse and interesting team working in the centre of an energetic and thriving city.
As a global technical recruitment company, we work with engineers from over 52 countries across the world. This allows some of our team members to regularly fly out to greet clients to help support on-going projects. These visits can see our employees stop by harbours in Spain, airports in Abu Dhabi, or racetracks in Italy. In addition, our team also frequently attend international trade shows for our industries, helping us to stay up to date with everything our sectors have to offer.&nbsp;
At VHR we reward our top performers who meet their yearly targets with a holiday. In September 2022 the high performers trip was to Faro, Portugal, and allowed individuals to fly out and enjoy some well-deserved time off.&nbsp; Whats more, everybody who wins an award or is a top performer from each month is invited to attend a luxury meal.
On top of this, if all targets are met, every summer VHR fly out for a full company holiday. This is a great way of rewarding all staff for their continuous hard work, as well as giving people from different departments and offices the chance to build relationships and relax. This helps to build more, ignite friendships and is repeatedly one of the highlights in the VHR calendar.
Whilst most companies hold a Christmas Party, VHR also hosts a party in the summer. Letting the team thoroughly enjoy themselves in the summer sun. Commonly supplied with drinks and dinner, this party is for the whole team who work hard all year long.
Each month VHR hosts a social event for the team. These are different every month, previously they have been dinners, go-karting, ping-pong, bowling, airsoft, barbecues, paintballing and many other fun activities. These are a great way to boost team spirit, these events are always fun and something for all of us to look forward to.
A few years ago, VHR introduced the flexi-time initiative which includes hybrid working. This permits employees to take more control over their time. Now able to start at any time between half seven and nine in the morning, the scheme helps our employees who have children, or have to commute in. It also gives the team more freedom to attend additional activities at a time that&rsquo;s better suited for them.

VHR has now changed our working routine to incorporate hybrid working. This will be continuing indefinitely as has been a proven success with our employees.&nbsp;
Hybrid working has become an increasingly popular method of working as a result of the global COVID-19 pandemic. The hybrid working model involves working employees working both remotely from home and working from one of VHR&rsquo;s seven offices.&nbsp;

VHR&rsquo;s employees took part in an anonymous survey earlier this year where they were asked a series of questions regarding their working hours/location. VHR's 17th Birthday

<h3>What is IR35?</h3>
Originally introduced in 2000, the piece of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.gov.uk/topic/business-tax/ir35">legislation</a>&nbsp;will soon be updated, with new changes coming in to force in April 2020.
The law was designed to increase the collection of income tax from people who work through an &ldquo;intermediary&rdquo;, for example: an umbrella company or personal services company.
From April, the existing off-payroll rules being extended from public sector to public and private sectors. The concept of IR35 status for tax and national insurance is not changing, but how the IR35 status determination decision is made and how the rules applicable to that status are then applied is changing.
There is still no final legislation, and the next UK budget has been delayed to 11th March 2020, when the government is expected to release further information.
&nbsp;
<h3>How Will Contractor Status Be Determined?</h3>
Inside IR35 Status&nbsp;&ndash; If the intermediary did not exist and the individual works in a way that makes them look like an employee of the client, they&rsquo;ll be deemed to be an employee for tax purposes and pay employee rates of income tax and national insurance.
Outside IR35 Status&nbsp;&ndash; The individual does not work in a way that they look like an employee, so they&rsquo;re deemed to be self-employed for tax purposes and pay self-employed rates of income tax.
&nbsp;
<h3>What Will IR35 Mean for Businesses?</h3>
From 6th April 2020, the off-payroll rules will also apply to medium and large private sector businesses.
Companies will need to issue a Status Determination Statement to state if a role is &lsquo;inside&rsquo; or &lsquo;outside&rsquo; IR35 (i.e. where a contractor sits in legal terms).
The rules will not apply to small companies that meet two or more of the following conditions:
<ul>
<li>Has a turnover of not more than &pound;10.2million</li>
<li>Has a balance sheet total of not more than &pound;5.1million</li>
<li>Has no more than 50 employees</li>
</ul>
IR35 will still apply to companies in small groups and joint ventures, if the parent company or any parties in the joint venture are not small; and unincorporated organisations with a turnover of &pound;10.2million or more.
&nbsp;
<h3>What Will Change?</h3>
The new rules will apply to all payments made on or after that date (not just work completed). HMRC state that statutory payments and employment rights will not be affected by these changes.
The off-payroll rules take precedence over managed service company legislation and Construction Industry Scheme (CIS).
&nbsp;
<h3>How Can Businesses Determine Whether IR35 Applies to Them?</h3>
&middot; Create a Status Determination Statement
&middot; The client must take reasonable care when making their status decision, otherwise liability for unpaid tax and NICs will transfer to it, i.e. they&rsquo;ll become the fee-payer
&middot; CEST tool on HMRC website
&middot; Could use IR35 consultancies but HMRC won&rsquo;t necessarily support their decision
<h3>How can companies prepare for IR35?</h3>
Act now &ndash; the law changes in April 2020 &ndash; so a detailed plan of action will prepare companies for the legislation changes.
All workers must be individually assessed to see if they fall within IR35. Companies can use the UK Government&nbsp;<a href="https://www.gov.uk/guidance/check-employment-status-for-tax">CEST tool</a>&nbsp;to do this.

Joining VHR in 2012, Jonny has been integral in supporting several of VHR&rsquo;s largest clients, including European and global aircraft manufacturers and MROs.

VHR Promotions: Jonny Kramer

We are delighted to announce the promotion of Norma Dysangco to Principal Delivery Executive.
Joining VHR in September 2014, Norma has played an integral role in supporting recruitment projects for UAE businesses over the past five years.
<h2>A Career in UAE Staffing Excellence</h2>
Norma has worked on a variety of major and business-critical projects to deliver high volumes of contractors and permanent executives into businesses across the Middle East. She has excelled in seamlessly managing and supporting multiple projects simultaneously, and providing exceptional communication and care for every client and candidate.
Norma has also spent time onsite with VHR&rsquo;s client businesses, including a major international airline where she sourced and supported hundreds of contractors and managed all onboarding including visas, work permits, travel and accommodation. With the support of Norma and the VHR team, the airline soon selected VHR as its premier supplier of technical staff, and our long-term partnership now spans 13 years.
Norma&rsquo;s key achievements also include:

VHR’s 2019: A Year of Success

Many of VHR&rsquo;s technical recruitment consultants and support team flew to Boston, USA for the annual top performers&rsquo; trip abroad last week.
As a thank you for our employees&rsquo; continued hard work, dedication and excellent performance, VHR offer an annual trip for our best-performing recruiters and support staff. On Thursday 17th October VHR&rsquo;s CEO Danny Brooks flew a record 17 members of the VHR team to Boston, including:

&middot; Apprentice turned VHR Academy Tutor and Resourced Lead Rebecca Fagan

Executive Assistant Alexis Matei and Principal IT Support Engineer Jose Perez Molina, who were voted Support Hero of the Year and Directors&rsquo; Choice Award Winner of the year at&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.v-hr.com/news/vhrs-end-of-financial-year-conference-party">VHR&rsquo;s Annual Conference</a>&nbsp;in September, also attended the trip.
The team enjoyed a variety of activities in Boston, starting with a visit to the Boston Science Museum and Planetarium, followed by an exciting ice hockey game. The trip also saw the team going whale watching, where they were lucky enough to see a variety of whales and other marine life at the Stellwagen Bank Marine Sanctuary, and a visit to the USS constitution ship.
VHR&rsquo;s technical recruitment consultants and support team rounded off their trip with plenty of American food and drink as well as socialising and entertainment.
The VHR team thoroughly enjoyed Boston and look forward to the next VHR trip in 2020.

VHR’s High Performers Holiday In Boston

On Friday 27thSeptember 2019 VHR took part in the World&rsquo;s Biggest Coffee Morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
<h3>Macmillan Coffee Mornings</h3>
One of the UK&rsquo;s largest charities,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.macmillan.org.uk/">Macmillan Cancer Support</a>&nbsp;has spent over 100 years providing healthcare, information and financial support to people affected by cancer and their families, and campaign for better cancer care across the country.
Since the&nbsp;<a href="https://coffee.macmillan.org.uk/about/what/">first ever Coffee Morning</a>&nbsp;took place in 1990, the bake off and social event has raised over &pound;200 million for Macmillan. With M&amp;S as its headline partner for the tenth year, Macmillan are aiming to top last year&rsquo;s incredible &pound;26,914,382 and raise even more funds this year.
<h3>VHR&rsquo;s Coffee Morning</h3>
Last week VHR raised over &pound;70 for Macmillan. As &pound;52 helps run the Macmillan Online Community forum for over an hour, we are proud that our bake sale will provide emotional and practical support for over nearly 1,000 people affected by cancer.
We can reveal that our Client Operations Executive Carmen D&rsquo;Agostino won star baker with an impressive chocolate strawberry cake, and our HR intern Alexandra Rossman came in as runner up with her excellent American-style chocolate chip cookies.
<h3>VHR&rsquo;s Fundraising Activities</h3>
In August 2019 VHR announced our new CSR partnership with Youth Employment UK, the not-for-profit organisation striving to reduce youth unemployment and support every young person to find their ideal career. VHR are looking forward to collaborating with Youth Employment UK in speaking to young people in schools and youth groups and promoting some of the exciting yet little-known careers in the engineering industry.

VHR’s Macmillan Coffee Morning 2019

VHR are delighted to announce our new CSR partnership with Youth Employment UK.
<h2>What is Youth Employment UK?</h2>
<a href="https://www.youthemployment.org.uk/">Youth Employment UK</a>&nbsp;is the leading voice and expert on youth employment issues in the UK. The not-for-profit organisation was set up in 2012 to reduce youth unemployment and support every young person to progress. Youth Employment UK gives young people the tools to explore and develop their skills and career options as well as engaging employers in quality youth friendly practice, supporting them to become Youth Friendly Employers. The organisation leads key research into youth unemployment, and support government, business and third sector organisations with insight and expertise.
Youth Employment UK supports more than 70,000 young people per month with free online careers and skills information, shared the views of 3,000 young people in the 2019 Youth Voice Census and is currently working with brands such as McDonalds, Coca-Cola EP, DST, EY and many others, supporting their youth employment strategy, recruitment and CSR objectives. Youth Employment UK is also supporting the government with the development of the Youth Charter.
<h2>VHR&rsquo;s Corporate Social Responsibility Programme</h2>
As an ethical recruitment company, VHR recognise the exceptional contribution that young people can make to business. In 2012 and 2013, Azem Hoti and Rebecca Fagan joined VHR as 17-year-old Apprentices. Now in 2019, both have since been promoted three times, Azem won the title of Best Temporary Recruitment Consultant of the Year in the 2019 Global Recruiter Awards and Rebecca leads the VHR Academy.
Last year our history of successful apprenticeships led to the creation of the VHR Academy: a bespoke training programme to transform eight inexperienced individuals into successful recruitment consultants. The third Academy launched in March 2019, and the training programme has helped VHR&rsquo;s employee base grow from 60 to 100 employees in the past three years.
VHR take part in a variety of CSR activities every year, including: the Macmillan Coffee Morning, Get Loud for Deaf Children, cake and food sales, fancy dress, marathons, triathlons, relay races and the annual Santa Run through London. In the past two years VHR have raised over &pound;25,000 for charity.
VHR&rsquo;s partnership with Youth Employment UK will complement our existing charitable activities and enable our team of recruitment consultants to share their own career experiences and give advice to young people looking for their first jobs.

VHR’s New Charity Partnership with Youth Employment UK

VHR&rsquo;s Founder and CEO Danny Brooks completed Ride London in preparation for his annual charity cycle ride around Australia.
&nbsp;
<h2>Ride London</h2>
On 4thAugust 2019, the world&rsquo;s greatest festival of cycling returned for its eighth year. The&nbsp;<a href="https://www.prudentialridelondon.co.uk/about/overview/">Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100</a>&nbsp;sees professional and amateur cyclists undertake a 100-mile challenge to race from London to Surrey.
This year VHR&rsquo;s CEO Danny Brooks and accomplished cyclist took part in Ride London. Danny rode as a team of three to prepare for&nbsp;<a href="https://www.stevewaughfoundation.com.au/the-captains-ride/">The Captain&rsquo;s Ride</a>&nbsp;in Australia in October 2019.
Danny and his team completed the 100-mile course in a time of five hours and three minutes.

<h2>The Captain&rsquo;s Ride</h2>
Led by former Australian Cricket Captain Steve Waugh, The Captain&rsquo;s Ride is an annual cycle ride around Australia that raises funds for good causes. All proceeds go to the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.stevewaughfoundation.com.au/about/">Steve Waugh Foundation</a>&nbsp;which helps children with rare diseases and their families through:
&middot; Individual Grants &ndash; for medicine, specialized equipment and treatment therapies
&middot; Respite Camps &ndash; supporting the siblings and families of children with rare diseases
&middot; Raising Awareness &ndash; Promoting&nbsp;<a href="https://www.rarediseaseday.org/">World Rare Disease Day</a>&nbsp;in Australia since 2009.
The Steve Waugh Foundation and its fundraisers strive to give children a better quality of life, offering support and the opportunity to connect with others.
In October 2019 Danny will begin an epic journey across Australia. Over a week Danny and his team will spend up to 10 hours a day cycling over 100km at a time to support children with rare diseases.

In its 41st year, the race is part of Cape Town Cycle Tour Lifecycle Week: a nine-day celebration of all things cycling. The annual cycle race is hosted in South Africa and usually extends 109 km in length.
The race presented an added challenge to Danny: the March cycle ride was Danny&rsquo;s first time on his bike since crashing in October. Danny suffered an injury in&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.v-hr.com/news/vhrs-charity-cycle-ride-the-captains-ride">last year&rsquo;s Captain&rsquo;s Ride across Australia</a>, but didn&rsquo;t let a broken collarbone stop his passion for sport and charitable causes.
The race conditions were difficult with 60kmh winds, but despite the weather, the team thoroughly enjoyed the challenge.
Danny completed the race in a time of 4 hours and 12 minutes.

<h2>Fundraising: Charity in Recruitment</h2>
Danny joined former Olympic Gold medal winner Daley Thompson to raise money for the charity&nbsp;<a href="https://www.laureus.com/">Laureus</a>.
Laureus&rsquo; first Patron was revolutionary activist and former President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela. At the inaugural Laureus World Sports Awards in 2000, President Mandela commented: &ldquo;Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. Sport can create hope where once there was only despair.&rdquo;
Nelson Mandela&rsquo;s speech has become the philosophy of Laureus, and the driving belief of uniting and inspiring people is the purpose behind its charitable work.
With VHR&rsquo;s sponsorship, Danny raised &pound;1000 for Laureus.

VHR Become Members of NZ Marine

VHR&rsquo;s CEO Danny Brooks sets off on the Captain&rsquo;s Ride across Australia in aid of charitable causes.
On 29th October 2018 Danny started&nbsp;<a href="https://www.stevewaughfoundation.com.au/the-captains-ride/">The Captain&rsquo;s Ride</a>, the beginning of an epic journey across Australia. For the next week Danny will be spending up to 9 hours a day on a bike to support children with rare diseases.
This year&rsquo;s Captain&rsquo;s Ride features a cycle ride from Melbourne 800km towards Sydney and climbing 12,000 vertical metres. The team&rsquo;s journey is the equivalent of cycling from sea level up to the top of Mount Everest, going back down to the bottom and then cycling halfway up again.

<li>Raising Awareness, playing a leading role in sponsoring a coordinated approach to the promotion of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.rarediseaseday.org/">World Rare Disease Day</a>&nbsp;in Australia since 2009</li>

The Steve Waugh Foundation works to give children and young adults a better quality of life, offering support and the opportunity to connect with others.

The team enjoyed a variety of activities in New York starting with a visit to the Museum of Modern Art (<a href="https://www.newyorkpass.com/new-york-attractions/museum-of-modern-art-moma.html?aid=214&amp;gclid=CjwKCAjwu5veBRBBEiwAFTqDwZGNJ8r6sYljxbzQwqg-mHGHQZeBnyr_R1UCw9YTHANRh-R6UbBg-BoCxQ8QAvD_BwE">MOMA</a>), where they were lucky enough to see Vincent Van Gogh&rsquo;s famous Starry Night painting, followed by an ice hockey game where the Houston Oilers beat the New York Rangers 2-1.
VHR&rsquo;s technical recruitment consultants and support team also visited Wall Street, climbed the Freedom Tower, admired the view from a rooftop bar next to the Empire State Building and topped it off with a stop at the Katz Delicatessen, where the film &lsquo;When Harry Met Sally&rsquo; was notably filmed.
The VHR team thoroughly enjoyed New York and look forward to the next VHR trip.

The&nbsp;<a href="https://londonrelay.co.uk/">I Move</a>&nbsp;London Relay is a month-long relay race with the purpose of breaking the previous world record for longest relay race in the&nbsp;<a href="http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/386423-greatest-distance-ran-in-24-hours-by-a-relay-team-male">Guinness World Records</a>.
<h3>The I Move London Relay race: Guinness World Record Attempt</h3>
The I Move London Relay spans 4,000 miles and requires over 2,500 runners to complete in 10K and 5K loops. Groups of 2-50 participants are running each leg of the relay, in central London, repeated for 30 days and 30 nights this July.
On Tuesday 17th and Tuesday 24th July 2018, 20 of VHR&rsquo;s global technical recruitment team who are based in our London office ran the relay at 7:00am. VHR were joined by double Olympic Gold Medallist&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daley_Thompson">Daley Thompson</a>, who in March this year raced the Cape Town Cycle Tour with VHR&rsquo;s CEO Danny Brooks.
VHR ran the I Move London Relay to raise money for a variety of causes including&nbsp;<a href="https://www.laureus.com/content/sport-for-good-foundation">Laureus</a>&nbsp;(Sport for Good), a charitable foundation that uses the power of sport to end violence, discrimination and disadvantage amongst children and young people across 35 countries. In addition to the money raised by each of our team members, VHR are sponsoring each of our employees &pound;25 to run in the I Move London Relay race.
Both stages of VHR&rsquo;s London relay races started and finished at Potters Fields Parks by London&rsquo;s City Hall. The I Move London Relay race continues until the end of the month and the world-record attempt is ongoing &ndash; sponsor the race&nbsp;<a href="https://londonrelay.co.uk/sponsor/">here</a>.

VHR Runs the I Move London Relay for Charity

<h2>VHR turns fifteen this year and celebrated our great success with both clients and employees at The Victorian Bath House last weekend.</h2>

The VHR team, both past and present, alongside clients and family members were invited last weekend to VHR&rsquo;s 15th birthday party at&nbsp;<a href="https://www.victorianbathhouse.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Victorian Bath House</a>&nbsp;in Moorgate, London.
Last month,&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.v-hr.com/news/vhrs-annual-company-trip-enjoying-porto" target="_blank" rel="noopener">VHR&rsquo;s team of 60 employees travelled to Porto</a>, North West Portugal for our annual company trip; this was the first of many celebrations to come that mark VHR&rsquo;s 15th birthday.
There are multiple reasons to celebrate VHR&rsquo;s success this year: firstly, the company&rsquo;s &pound;35million turnover marked our last financial year, VHR won the prestigious&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.v-hr.com/news/vhr-wins-queens-award-for-enterprise-2018" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Queen&rsquo;s Award for Enterprise 2018</a>, grew to seventy-plus employee&rsquo;s across five different countries and opened a&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.v-hr.com/news/vhr-open-new-office-valencia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">new office in beautiful Valencia</a>, Spain.

The evening began with complimentary drinks in the garden of the elegant and authentic Victorian Bath House, located in Moorgate&rsquo;s busy financial district. Whilst guests arrived and were greeted by VHR&rsquo;s employee&rsquo;s, a buffet (which was assortment of delicious, continental food) was being prepared in the reception area for guests to enjoy later in the evening.
Later in the evening, VHR&rsquo;s Managing Director,&nbsp;<a href="http://v-hr.com/team/danny-brooks/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Danny Brooks</a>, and Chief of Operations,&nbsp;<a href="http://v-hr.com/team/paul-robinson/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Paul Robinson</a>, delivered their speech based on a reflection of VHR&rsquo;s past successes, company trips, charity events and gratitude for all those involved.
Following the speech was a video of a friend of both Danny and Paul, who was flying a fighter jet across stunning mountains, delivering a message that congratulated VHR for all their achievements and commendable success.
Guests were provided with bespoke VHR merchandise and gift bags on departure from the party at the end of the evening; many comments were exchanged throughout the evening from both clients and family members, praising the company&rsquo;s achievements and success of the night.

The elite wheelchair races kick off at 8:55am, the World Para Athletics Marathon World Cup is at 9:00am and the elite women&rsquo;s race is at 9:15am. The elite men&rsquo;s race, British Athletics &amp; England Athletics Marathon Championships, and the mass race commonly known as the London Marathon will start at 10am.</h5>

2018 London Marathon: VHR’s London Marathon Team

<h1>VHR&rsquo;s Managing Director Danny Brooks participated in the Cape Town Cycle Tour in South Africa last week.</h1>
<h5>Danny raced the Cape Town Cycle Tour with Olympic Gold Medal winner Daley Thompson as part of Team Laureus. Laureus is&nbsp;<a href="http://v-hr.com/the-captains-ride-2017-day-five-mark-webber/">a charitable foundation</a> that celebrates the power of sport, aiming to bring people together as a force for good.</h5>

<h5>Laureus&rsquo;s first Patron was revolutionary activist and&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nelson_Mandela">former President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela</a>. At the inaugural Laureus World Sports Awards in 2000, President Mandela commented: &ldquo;Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand.&nbsp; Sport can create hope where once there was only despair.&nbsp; It is more powerful than governments in breaking down racial barriers.&rdquo; Nelson Mandela&rsquo;s speech has become the philosophy of Laureus and the driving belief behind all its charitable work.</h5>
<h5>Now in its 40th anniversary, the Cape Town Cycle Tour is the largest timed cycle race in the world with over 35,000 riders. The course distance of 109km climbs a 1.5Km vertical ascent around the Southern Cape peninsula.</h5>

<h5>On Sunday 11th&nbsp;February, Danny completed the Cape Town Cycle Tour in a time of 3 hours, 57 minutes and 32 seconds.</h5>
<h5>VHR is proud to support Laureus, and through our sponsorship VHR has helped provide bicycles for the Cape Town Cycle Tour network of coaching staff in Africa. The bicycles were presented to some of the coaching staff at a ceremony attended by Danny Brooks and Daley Thompson on the Friday before the Race, and will aid Laureus in their work to fundraise and deliver projects across 35 countries around the world.</h5>

<h4>VHR's friend and colleague Bob Keane was sadly and prematurely taken from us earlier this year.</h4>
<h4>Bob was one of life&rsquo;s true gentlemen and his departure has left a void in the lives of everyone he touched. Bob and his family only have the most respect and praise for the doctors and nurses at Harefield Hospital where Bob received his treatment.</h4>
<h4>In memory of Bob and to raise funds for Harefield Hospital VHR has formed a crack team which run the Tough Mudder to raise funds for this very worthy cause on the 2nd May 2015.</h4>
<h4>Tough Mudder is a hard-core 19Km obstacle race - designed by British Special Forces to challenge the toughest of the tough. The obstacles often play on common human fears, such as fire, water, electricity and heights and only 3 out of 4 usually manage to finish the course.</h4>
<h4>VHR's&nbsp;Keane Team successfully received a huge&nbsp;amount of donations through Virgin Money Giving which have been processed and passed to Brompton and Harefield Hospitals.&nbsp;</h4>
