"My name is Bianca Corb, and I work as a Delivery Executive at VHR Global Technical Recruitment. I specialise in supporting clients across the Aerospace & Aviation, F1 & Automotive, and Engineering & Defence industries. My role involves managing the full delivery cycle—from understanding client requirements to sourcing and placing the right candidates. I work to ensure a strategic and seamless recruitment experience that meets both business needs and career ambitions".
How has working at VHR supported your development as a specialist?
"VHR has played a major part in my professional growth. Being part of recruitment projects for some of the world’s most competitive industries—like Motorsport and Defence—has strengthened my technical understanding and exposed me to niche skill sets. On top of that, I’ve gained valuable experience in relationship management, process improvement, and delivery strategy. It’s helped me move beyond just placing candidates to becoming a real specialist in the field".
Can you describe the role you recently placed a candidate in?
"Recently, I filled a Composite Technician role for a well-known Motorsport team. The role was time-sensitive and required someone with specific laminating experience and the ability to thrive under pressure. These kinds of placements are common for us—we focus heavily on technical roles like this across Motorsport".
"Interestingly, we’ve also taken on new challenges. Last year, we were asked by one of our established Aerospace clients to help recruit for finance roles. While finance isn’t our core area, we accepted the challenge and took time to research industry-specific terms and job functions. Speaking directly with candidates helped me understand the industry from the ground up, and I successfully placed roles like FP&A Analyst and Business Controller. It was a great learning experience".
How did you go about sourcing and selecting the right candidate?
"I used a targeted, multi-channel approach—tapping into our internal database, specialist recruitment platforms, and my growing network. I screened candidates based on a mix of technical skill, previous experience, and their ability to adapt to high-performance environments. Cultural fit was also important—especially for team-focused roles in fast-moving sectors".
Once shortlisted, I followed a clear process:
- Skillset, qualification and background checks
- Initial emails and follow-up calls
- Client submission and interview coordination
- Two-stage interviews
- Offer and placement
Can you share how you supported the candidate through the process?
"I see myself as more than just a recruiter—I’m a coach, cheerleader, and point of contact from start to finish. I prepared candidates for interviews, answered any last-minute questions, and helped build their confidence throughout the process. I even supported them with relocation logistics and accommodation sourcing and answered onboarding queries".
"Maintaining that level of care builds long-term relationships. I stay in touch with many of the people I’ve placed—it’s part of what makes my job rewarding".
Was there a key lesson you took away from this recruitment process?
"Absolutely—timing and transparency are crucial".
"In industries like Motorsport or Aerospace & Defence, opportunities move fast. Being agile, honest, and communicative helps avoid missed chances and builds trust. This placement reinforced how important it is to always be ready, act quickly, and stay close to your candidate every step of the way".
What would you say to candidates who are unsure about working with a recruiter?
"I’d say: give it a go—especially if you’re exploring opportunities in niche technical sectors.
A good recruiter doesn’t just send out CVs. We advocate for candidates, help them access roles that aren’t always advertised, and provide guidance at every stage".
