VHR’s Divisional Director and Automotive Recruitment Specialist Conor McKeon discusses the Automotive skills shortage at the Autonomous Vehicle Technology Expo in Stuttgart.
As new research reveals that 8million autonomous vehicles will be delivered by 2025, the Automotive sector is experiencing increased demand for skilled engineers and technicians. In the past year VHR’s F1 & Automotive recruitment team have delivered a variety of Autonomous Vehicles manufacturing projects, placing engineering candidates from senior management to manufacture and supply into leading global Motorsport businesses and Automotive start-ups.
VHR’s Divisional Director – Motorsport and Engineering Conor McKeon, who possesses over a decade of Automotive & Motorsport recruitment expertise, is interviewed at the Autonomous Vehicle Technology World Expo to discuss international staffing challenges. Conor outlines how a lack of awareness is causing a global Automotive skills shortage, which is particularly affecting the Autonomous Vehicles sector:
‘There is a universal engineering skills shortage. The engineering sector isn’t perceived as exciting as it once was: the ‘cool’ factor needs to appeal to the younger generation. VHR regularly attend trade shows like the Autonomous Vehicle Technology World Expo all around the world to talk to people and match their skill sets to the needs of our clients.’
