Earlier this month VHR celebrated our 20th birthday. We took this time as a team to consider just how far VHR has come in the space of 20 years. A large focus of ours was to give thanks to those who have pushed, supported, and followed us since our establishment in 2003.
With it being such a momentous occasion for VHR, we wanted to celebrate this milestone in style. The festivities encompassed several different components, starting with a vacation for all our UK based employees to Paphos, Cyprus, in May. Followed with a lively summer gathering designed to foster unity among clients, past and present employees, and family of VHR. In parallel, our London office is actively participating in a fantastic 20-hour charity bike ride event, dedicated to raising funds and contributing back to our local community which we have now been based in for two decades.
VHR Summer Holiday to Cyprus
The staff trip to Paphos, Cyprus, from the 11th to the 14th of May 2023 was an unforgettable experience for the 40 staff members in attendance. The highlight of the trip was undoubtedly the luxurious boat excursion, where we were all able to indulge in a delectable authentic Greek cuisine prepared in front of us on the BBQ. Whilst exploring the vibrant hot spots of Coral Bay, VHR had the opportunity to dive into and explore the mesmerizingly clear waters. This trip not only provided us with a chance to unwind and celebrate the last 20 years of VHR, but it also served as a platform to enhance our teamwork skills throughout the VHR Sports Day. Everyone was able to engage in a variety of enjoyable activities such as an egg and spoon race, tug of war and water polo. As the trip drew to a close, we all gathered for a delightful 3-course dinner at the hotel restaurant, creating a relaxed atmosphere for conversations and reflections.
In addition to the mentioned activities, we also organised a company presentation where we had an in-depth discussion about current company issues, goals, and targets. It provided us with an opportunity to align our vision and strategy as a team. VHR had a large focus to brainstorm and discuss future ideas for us, aiming to improve our collaboration and enhance the overall experience for our clients and candidates.
The holiday was a success and an amazing way to share the success with our hardworking and dedicated team from the London office. We are looking forward to the UAE office trip later in the year.
VHR 20th Birthday Summer Party in London
To further celebrate the 20th anniversary of VHR, the Marketing Team designed a networking event to bring all of our clients, friends and family together to celebrate. Located at the Royal Aeronautical Society, this event was filled with photos, videos, and memorabilia from the last two decades. The evening offered a variety of food, a specially designed VHR cocktail and a saxophone player for our guests to enjoy. We provided an area where guests could leave well wishes for both our CEO, Danny Brooks, and our COO Paul Robinson. One guest wrote “Thank you very much for everything, we are really valuing it and congratulations on your big achievement” with another mentioning “a fantastic evening at a beautiful venue celebrating how far VHR have come with a wonderful team”.
To honour the night even further, two close friends of VHR took part in their own incredibly special celebratory videos. As we work extremely closely within the aviation and automotive industries, we asked a close friend to film a short clip for us in a fighter jet. The other video includes George King, an up-and-coming racing car driver.
We are overjoyed that our clients and friends travelled from across the world to attend our party, it was the highest turnout event in VHR history. Thank you to all those who came and enjoyed the night with us.
VHR Charity Cycle for BEDE House
VHR believes strongly in giving back to the community that we have been a part of for the last 20 years. Overtime we have raised a large amount of money for a variety of different charities across the country the most recent event was the 2023 London Marathon which was ran by our Management Accountant, Alex Giles, in an amazing time of 3 hours, 40 minutes and 40 seconds.
VHR’s latest fundraising activity is a 20-hour cycle in aid of a local charity, BEDE House Association. The charity cycle, happening on the 26th July, involves two stationary exercise bikes placed in the London Office, where our staff will continuously rotate between each other for 20 hours, completing anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours on the bikes. The aim is to get everyone active and for an exceptionally good cause, with Danny stating, “It is for charity after all, we don’t just want to be doing a few hours, we are turning 20 so why not make it for 20 hours!”.
BEDE House, who are based in Bermondsey, London, are also sending representatives on the day to support the VHR staff on their incredible endeavour for charity.
We look forward to trying to raise as much money as we can for such a great charity.
