The Situation

One of the largest Automotive manufacturers in the world chose VHR to support their latest car model launch. The Automotive brand needed to meet an August 2018 deadline to launch their new car model; they were lacking a large volume of skilled engineers across their supply chain, and if they missed the deadline, they would not be allowed to take the car to market. The Automotive brand is a billion pound turnover business, so this new product launch and its sales were crucial to long-term business success.

The Automotive brand were looking for skilled and semi-skilled Composite Technicians to work with five suppliers. VHR had an existing pool of candidates with the right background, and planned to conduct several recruitment trips to interview our existing candidate networks and identify further talent pools.

The Solution

VHR conducted the first recruitment trip in Europe in 2018, interviewing 50 Laminators, Finishers and CNC Operators in two days. Our team arranged interviews, found locations, organised all logistics for candidates and personally conducted all 50 interviews. 

VHR’s ethos of going the extra mile generated further interviews via referrals of the candidates who enjoyed working with us. Our team conducted a second trip with all referred candidates in addition to new candidates sourced through our own research, social media channels and networks.

The Outcome

  •        VHR placed over 100 contractors across the five supplier businesses, including 45 at one supplier.
  •        Because VHR personally met, qualified and stringently assessed all candidates against requirements, the vast majority of contractors stayed with suppliers for their full contract, and candidate satisfaction was high throughout the project.
  •       VHR’s partnership with the Automotive brand was so productive that two of the five suppliers surpassed both deadlines and volume requirements, and still had roll cages in stock after the project was complete.
  •     VHR’s recruitment drive ensured all suppliers had the right number of parts and a full skilled team, enabling them to meet their  project deadline, avoid a fine and release the car model on time.    The Automotive brand were so impressed with VHR’s speed of project delivery that the five suppliers received more work from them.
