Yacht Blog – A Spectacular Summer of Superyachts
VHR’s Yacht Blog celebrates 2017’s summer of sailing and Superyachts. From Palma to Bermuda, majestic J Class yachts with large sails and beautiful shapes, to the very latest in designs and technology, fleets of Superyachts and J-Class boats will take to the water competing for their chance to win a prestigious superyacht cup.
The Superyacht Cup in Palma de Mallorca is the major European event for Superyachts. In June, the bay of Palma will welcome a fleet of Superyachts to race and compete in the regatta. Competitors include last year’s winner WINWIN, along side Holland Jachtbouw’s Windrose of Amsterdam – a team who have been racing since the very first superyacht cup.
Across the Atlantic, another fleet of Superyacht and J-Class are also preparing to race. Whilst Bermuda hosts the sports oldest trophy, the America’s Cup, Superyachts and classic J Classs yachts will join the iconic America’s Cup Catamarans for racing on Bermuda’s famous sound.
Superyacht Cup, from Palma to Bermuda
This year’s America’s Cup Superyacht Regatta will hold events for Youth, J-Class, Superyachts and the Americas Cup World Series. Superyachts such as the Adela, Maltese Falcon and Sojana who previously raced in the Palma Superyacht Cup will now join other classics such as Lionheart, Hanuman, Ranger and Velsheda. The Superyachts will set sail first in Bermuda, ending on June 15th, immediately followed by the J-Class Regatta.
America’s Cup J-Class Regatta
History and memories will be relived as the J Class yachts Shamrock V and Endeavour set sail. Originally racing back in the Americas cup in 1930 and 1934, they are joined by 6 further challengers. With 8 out of a total 10 J Class yachts racing, the Superyacht Cup in Bermuda promises to be another highlight in 2017’s summer of sailing.
