Dubai Air Show: Day One Highlights
VHR are exhibiting at the Dubai Air Show this week. At the end of Day One, we’re reflecting on an amazing first day at the world’s largest and most impressive aerospace event.
Dubai Air Show: A Royal Beginning
The day began with a royal tour from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, who inaugurated the 12th edition of the Dubai Air Show 2017.
His Highness toured the exhibition throughout the morning and inspected the military and civilian aircrafts, expressing hope that the event will bring every possible success to each business.
After the tour finished, the show got down to business. VHR met a variety of aviation leaders from around the world to discuss future business investments and the opportunities to tackle the increasing recruitment needs of the engineering industry.
Dubai Air Show Highlights: Day One
Plane of the Day: #Dreamliner
A true show-stopper, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner lives up to its name. Standing beneath the wing of the American twin-engine jet looked magnificent and stole the show on day one.
Both pioneering and industry-leading in technology, the 787 Dreamliner creates a unique opportunity for its passengers: allowing a dramatically improved air travel experience, more comfort and less fatigue are just two of the passenger experience improvements offered by the Boeing airplane.
The new 787 Dreamliner allows both fuel efficiency and range flexibility, which opens new routes for the fleet to fly and optimises network performance that is friendlier to the environment (10% better fuel per seat).

Top Three Dubai Air Show Exhibitions
UTC Aerospace Systems
At first glance, the new UTC Aerospace model is enough to make anyone’s heart race – especially as the leaver drops down! – but makes for an eye-catching display.
United Technologies Corporation (UTC) is one of the world’s largest leading Aerospace and Defence product suppliers. UTC is engaged in servicing systems, designing and manufacturing components for business, military, commercial, regional aircraft and other platforms.
As a company, UTC’s stance is about going above and beyond in catering for all of their sectors, as brilliantly depicted in their exhibition display. The message of the UTC exhibition stand is clear – the business cares for Aerospace industry and the people involved – and delivers a memorable display.
Emirates are rightfully dominant in the Dubai arena. With the big reveal of their new First Class compartments earlier in the morning, Emirates continue to impress with their luxurious exhibition display.
Positioned at the entrance of the exhibition hall, Emirates displays a two-tier stand capable of selling products, offering virtual reality experiences and an opportunity to try out the new First Class compartment.
Opulence, luxury and class: Emirates steals the entrance and sets the standards for the rest of the Dubai Air Show.
An incredible display by Dubai South offers yet another show-stopping exhibition.
Currently under construction, Dubai South will be an economic zone to support a variety of Aviation, commercial and residential businesses around the newly built Al Maktoum International Airport.
The Dubai South display in the Air Show is a creative model exhibition that reveals the future plans and scale of the United Arab Emirates. It’s an incredibly exciting project that catches the eye of everyone passing through the Dubai Air Show.
Highlight of the Day
VHR’s Managing Director, Danny Brooks, was both delighted to meet Liam Fox, Secretary of State for International Trade in the UK Government on his tour of the UK Pavilion at the Dubai Air Show.
Danny and Liam Fox discussed the progression and importance of ethical recruitment, specifically recruiting employees from overseas to the UAE, and the benefits of ethical recruitment to the UK and UAE.
Emirates airline launched its new First Class suites on the Boeing 777 fleet.
On board were spectacular first-class compartments, revealing new features such as ‘virtual windows’ for the middle seat where passengers will be shown the outside view live through screens on the walls.
The new Emirates product will be available on these specific aircrafts by the end of 2019, on flights to Brussels and Geneva initially.
