The Captain’s Ride 2017: Day Three
VHR’s Managing Director Danny Brooks reports on Day Three of the Captain’s Ride with former Australian Cricket Captain Steve Waugh.
The Captain’s Ride Diary: Day Three
Danny reveals of the third day’s riding, ‘Day Three was a cold, windy and hilly day. Whilst in distance today was the shortest, we ascended the steepest climbs in inclement conditions. Lunch could not come soon enough for a chance to defrost.
‘When we eventually made the night stop we realised we had come to the wrong hotel and had a few more kilometres to go! Refusing to be disheartened, we got back on our bikes and soon reached our final destination for the day. A great motivational speech from Daley Thompson, following a Castel Evans speech the night before, saw us through to the next part of our journey.’
Day Three by the Numbers:
Distance – 80.1km
Elevation – 1,807m
Moving Time – 3:58:47
Calories – 2,631
Day Three also saw the Captain’s Ride teams make a special visit to one of their best supporters.
Three pelotons, 76 riders and a convoy of support vehicles added an extra 4KM onto their journey to stop by and thank the longest-standing donor of 10 years at her home in Tasmania.
Danny and the Captain’s Riders would like to thank every one of the Patrons, Partners, Major Sponsors, Supporters, Donors and Volunteers who have supported the Steve Waugh Foundation and their journey so far.
